Presentation of the colored grid PDF pattern

This unique pattern uses matching DMC floss colors to fill in each corresponding grid cell. There is a symbol overlay to assist further and guide you on your stitching journey. Where the DMC floss color is particularly dark, we use a white symbol, so it is still easily visible.

    Looks nice, needs refining

Posted by Głup on 17th Feb 2024

It feels very early to write a review, as I'm bearly two percent into this piece, but it has a few quirks I would've liked to know about before purchasing. Thus I won't say much about the results, except that what little I have done looks great. Some of the symbols chosen are too similar to each other. Some examples are 'c' and 'e', or '*' and an '×' and '+' overlayed on top of each other. Once you've caught them, they're different enough, but when first seeing one of them I just continued on with the same thread as the other, because they look similar enough to not rouse suspicion. I also feel the pattern could have been cleaned up more. Take this with a grain of salt, as I don't have much experience or knowledge about color theory. One bit I found exceptionaly frustrating was in the upper left corner, beside the navy streak, squares (1,62), (2,62),(2,61) which are three different shades of gray, two of which are not present anywhere else on the page, and the third in just two or three squares. Obviously some confetti is to be expected, but it's hard to believe so many single stitches are required for a nice result. There are also some areas of larger single color blocks, so the pattern is very nice for variety. I also very much enjoyed the many versions of the pattern, and switching between them as I see fit. The excel sheet for calculating floss is also great, and made it easy to buy the right amount, and change variables myself, as I wanted to stitch with one strand. Overall the pattern is nice and enjoyable, but I'd recommend to study the symbols list carefully before starting.
